There is little doubt that the climate is changing and it will likely have an impact on the financial markets (mrfcj.org, NASA, Wikipedia Overview, Washington Times, Ted talks). What remains uncertain is what the impact of climate change means for individual stocks. However, it is certain that businesses are affected differently. The Obermatt Investment Theme Environment & Climate contains companies that are better prepared for climate change.

While it is more difficult to say which technologies benefit most, it is possible to identify the companies that produce more CO2 and those that produce less. If we assume that companies with large CO2 emissions are more adversely affected, then it is worth investing in companies with relatively small CO2 emissions. Therefore, Obermatt includes stocks in the Stock Focus Climate friendly that have below-average CO2 emissions in their industry.
