News from the Swiss Pearls: Galenica Joins

The Obermatt Swiss Pearls Index (OMSP1) is reviewed each month to replace the lowest performing stock with the strongest one not currently in the index. This month, Galenica AG enters the index and VAT Group AG leaves it.

VAT Group makes room for Galenica

VAT Group AG continues to face profit constraints tied to its investment spending, against a broader pullback in sentiment around AI-linked equities. Its 360° View dropped to 6, the lowest in our full coverage universe. Its Value rank has fallen to 1, meaning the stock trades far ahead of what its underlying numbers support. The Combined rank of financial metrics only at 11 and Safety at a meager 14 indicate that the high price now is not sustainable in the future.

Galenica AG takes VAT's place with a 360° View of 98 and a Combined rank of 96, built on strong scores across several measures rather than one number carrying the rest. Growth stands at 91, Safety at 77, and Value, usually the hardest score for a quality name to hold onto, comes in at 55.

Galenica confirmed it met its growth targets for the first half of 2026, and analysts currently project 2026 earnings per share of CHF 3.75. There was also a leadership change in the laboratory division in June.

News from the Swiss Pearls

Starting with this post, OMSP1 updates carry more than the numbers behind a swap. We are pulling in real coverage on the companies in the index, drawn from Obermatt's News Summaries feature, so you can know what's new in the Swiss market. News Summaries track fresh coverage on a company and feed into the Market Pulse, a part of our Sentiment Rank. The full feature, covering every company on the platform, is available to Unlimited subscribers. The biggest news from our Swiss Pearls stocks is:

Sandoz Group AG joined the Swiss Market Index, a milestone for a company that only spun off from Novartis in 2023, and it paired that with a long-term plan to double net sales by 2035 built around expanding its biosimilar portfolio, backed by a fresh EUR 500 million bond.

ABB Ltd, meanwhile, currently holds the highest Market Pulse score in the entire OMSP1 universe, with demand for power infrastructure tied to AI data centers pushing shares up 1.2% recently on steady revenue growth and margins.

And Inficon Holding AG posted a record second quarter and raised its full-year guidance, then added an unusual detail to the mix: a contract to supply gas analysis instrumentation for NASA's fifth lunar mission.
